Although Mojácar´s origins date back some 4000 years modern history started with the arrival of Paul Polansky in 1964 and his selling and building a few homes in the then derelict area.

Brother Ric, wife and son arrived in 1969 to help make them Mojácar´s premier developers on the beach area. Through their guidance, Mojácar has become one of the most exciting new coastal tourist areas in Spain. This is not just because of its famed 323 days of sun during the course of a year, but more so because of the lack of high rises. Mojácar is now the area is listed as an area of NATIONAL TOURISTIC IMPORTANCE. This is a special place to live all year round, or just to visit for an unforgettable holiday!

Ric Polansky & Associates is a family run business who are proud to claim that they were the founders of all development along Mojácar's beach front. Brother Paul arrived in 1964 and became the first Settler, Promoter and Developer to the foreign community.

In 1969 Ric and his wife Karen followed. They have three sons. Joby, who is thirty-one years old; Luke, who is twenty-five, and both are working with the family. Having been brought up in Spain they are both fluent in Spanish and consequently are heading the Service Department of Rentals. Some of their responsibilities include looking after the clients' homes, supervising cleaning, minor repairs, maintenance, airport pickups, car rentals; etc.

Karen's hobbies include being President of the local animal welfare society, P.A.W.S. (People's Animal Welfare Society); which takes up a lot of her time when she is not in the office.

Ric's hobbies include reading, writing and exploring, whereupon he prides himself as being one of the most well read authorities on the Inca culture in Peru. He also writes a weekly column for various newspapers, the local "Entertainer", and also "El Indalico", amongst others.

His adventure photographs have appeared in TIME Magazine, Cosmopolitan, etc. and he has been written up also as a Developer in the London Financial Times in 1987.

The youngest son, Micah, now attends high-school in America. (Not pictured is "Folly" (horse), "Juani", "Oprah", "Shadow", "Scooter", and "Sarah" (the five P.A.W.S. dogs); "Machu Pichu" (cat); and last but not least, "Pete" and "Andre" (tortoises)).

(The Polansky family regrets that the pet parrot flew the coop and can only hope that he is joyfully winging his way back to some sunny climate where all foreigners should consider residing!)
